Frequently Asked Questions
-
You have made the first step! If you know who you want to see you can contact them directly from our Contact page. If you are unsure of who would be the best fit, you can email our whh team email and we will work with you to find the best fit! We will respond within 24 hours, because we know how hard it can be to reach out for help.
-
Yes! All of our providers offer a 15-30 minute free consultation where you can connect on the basics: schedule availability, style, specialty and needs, etc. Not to mention 'vibes'- we know those are important in finding the right fit! Contact us.
-
In the first session, you and your therapist will go over the paperwork that you completed prior to your session and answer any questions you may have. You will discuss the informed consent and go over how payment and insurance works (if you plan to use insurance). Once logisitics are all out of the way, you and your therapist will begin what we call the diagnostic assessment process, which is a fancy way of saying they will ask you a lot of questions about yourself so they can get a well rounded picture in order to formulate a diagnosis for your treatment plan and insurance claims.
Getting Started
-
We know how hard this can be, and we want to help you find the best fit. There are a couple ways of doing this.
By looking through the bios and seeing who stands out to you. Intuition and gut instinct are real things!
Reach out to our contact email or phone (text or call) and we will respond and ask you some questions to try and match you with who we think may fit you best. We are very intentional about who we bring on as providers, and because of this we know our providers' personalities pretty well!
-
Absolutely! We work with all mental health concerns! With that being said, most of our providers have niches, or certain diagnoses that they have more training in, or treatment modalities that they have explored more than others (EMDR, Brain spotting, etc). Many of our providers at WHH have a specialty in eating disorders, but not all of them!
Finding the Right Provider
What to Expect
-
Yes, this is usually discussed in the first or second session. Your provider will provide a recommendation on what they think is most appropriate. That being said, you always have autonomy to disagree and schedule as you desire.
-
This is entirely dependent on the person, the concern, and what they are looking for from therapy. Some people are looking for short term, solution focused, skills, that help them through a very specific situation. This would likely last for a much shorter period of time than a client that is looking to process through their week on an ongoing basis. Some people will go to therapy for years because they find it helpful.
Types of Care
-
Yes, we work with kids as young as 6 or 7!
-
Absolutely. We recommend you reach out to our administrator to discuss your specific needs to ensure we have the care and providers you need!
-
See our group therapy page for more information! This varies depending on group numbers.
Locations & Environment
-
We have offices in Wayzata, Stillwater, and Inver Grove Heights
-
Our in-person environment is warm and welcoming, with soft lighting and size inclusive furniture. We have water, coffee, and tea for you upon your arrival, and an assortment of things to keep you occupied while you wait for your appointment to begin. Your provider will come to the lobby to get you, so no need to worry about checking in!
-
Yes, we offer virtual sessions. Even if you usually do in person sessions, our providers can easily adjust a session to telehealth due to weather, a sick child, etc.
-
Your provider will send you a link via text or email (per your approval) prior to your appointment, and you will click on that up to 10 minutes before the appointment. It is that easy!
Scheduling & Availability
-
We usually have immediate availability with someone. Our prelicensed providers are often taking clients and because of their work with a supervisor you get 2 therapists for the price of 1! Our licensed providers may also have space depending on a multitude of factors.
-
Every provider has their own specific policy, so we recommend talking with them about their policy. WHH's generic policy is 24 hours in advance for cancellation to avoid a late cancel fee. We are understanding of emergencies and illness, and many providers may offer a couple of 'freebies' to clients that they can use throughout the year. Again, this is entirely up to the provider.
Cost & Insurance
-
We accept all major insurance and state insurance in MN. With that, we always recommend you call and confirm that your provider is in network with your insurance prior to your first session (call the # on the back of your insurance card), to avoid any denied claims that may result in you having to pay an out of pocket fee.
-
Unfortunately, insurance companies require a diagnosis for claim submission. That being said, providers at Wholehearted Healing are mindful of doing the 'least harm' to clients. This means that providers diagnosis clients as a way to help the client get their needs met, rather than to label them, and will tend to use the least stigmatizing diagnosis when possible. If you are adamant about not having a diagnosis in your file, talk with your provider about private pay or sliding scale options.
-
Individual therapy costs anywhere from $125-$225 on average at WHH. Group therapy costs $40 per session.
-
Yes. If we do not take your insurance or you do not want to use insurance we offer these options. Cost is based on provider. Usually self pay is from $12-225$. Sliding scale differs based on the provider and how they choose to tier it. Most often, providers will use income or self report of what the client believes they are able to pay.
-
Yes, most often we are able to use these account the same as we would a credit or debit card.
Privacy & Confidentiality
-
Yes- however therapists are mandated reporters, so there are situations in which confidentiality can be and may need to be broken. This includes but is not limited to: reports of harm to children, inability to contract for your own safety, threats of immentent harm to others, court orders, and others. Your therapist should discuss this with you in your first session.
-
Your provider, WHH administrative staff for billing and other support, and at times insurance companies may conduct an audit. This is all also outlined in your informed consent document you will sign in your initial paperwork. Anyone else wanting access would have to request it, and your provider would discuss it with you.
