5 Words That Describe Me as a Therapist
Authentic, Sarcastic, Direct, Communicative, Real

My Approach
I show up as myself to every session. It is important to me that clients feel like they have a therapist that is ‘real’ and isn’t putting on a ‘show’ for them. I am human and not perfect and have been through a lot myself. Because of that, therapy is often a conversation that involves problem solving your concerns, bouncing around ideas, learning skills, and digging into how old patterns continue to show up in your life in a way that inhibits your ability to move forward in a positive way. Therapy can be uncomfortable at times, and that is not something I shy away from, I lean into it because we learn a lot from discomfort. Clinically, I use approaches that empower, build skills, rewrite narratives, heal wounded parts, and identify patterns.

About Me
I am an introvert at heart. I love spending time at home with my two doodles (Winnie and Waylon). I enjoy my ‘grandma’ hobbies as my friends call it, and I love to read, learn, and spend time with the people that mean the most to me. I love owning Wholehearted Healing, and being a good leader has always been a passion of mine. I do my best to work hard and play hard, and I try to travel a couple of times a year, even if it is a short distance.

Background
I graduated in 2007 from University of St. Thomas for a Bachelor’s degree in Psychology and Criminal Justice. I received my Master’s degree from University of St. Mary’s in 2012, and received my LPCC in 2015. I attained my doctoral degree in Marriage and Family Therapy in 2021. I am also a board approved supervisor for the Board of Behavioral Health in the state of Minnesota and a professor at the University of St. Mary’s.

I have experience in individual and group work, as well as management. I have experience creating treatment curriculum, class curriculum, and participated in various podcast opportunities.
