Amy Kennedy, MSW, LICSW

(she, her, hers)

Individual Therapist

My Approach:

In both my personal and professional life, I have witnessed the ways that traumatic experiences impact our self-worth and how we navigate the world. My goal is to provide a calm, safe space to help my clients explore and process their past in order to improve their present. I utilize a strengths-based and trauma-informed lens to help my clients discover and break down patterns and dynamics that no longer serve them; as well as build upon inherent strengths and coping strategies to manage whatever life throws at them. I offer EMDR therapy and utilize components from CBT, TF-CBT, and Post-Induction (Inner Child) therapy. I work primarily with adults, teens, and pre-teens (ages 12+). I have expertise treating PTSD, Complex PTSD, anxiety, depression, and helping people navigate life transitions.

My Experience/Education:

After graduating with my Bachelor of Social Work from Winona State University, I worked in a community-based setting as an Adult Rehabilitative Mental Health Services (ARMHS) worker. Within that role I also had opportunities as a skills group facilitator, residential worker, case manager, and medication clinic staff (I wore a lot of “hats”!) These experiences exposed me to individuals with diverse diagnoses and life experiences and ignited my ever-growing passion for trauma work.

I earned my MSW from Winona State University’s Trauma-Informed Clinical Social Work program in 2020 and worked as a School-Based therapist for 2 years before transitioning to outpatient therapy. I am a Licensed Independent Clinical Social Worker (LICSW) in the state of MN and am trained in EMDR, TF-CBT, and Post-Induction Therapy.
