Individual and Relational Therapist

My Approach:

Living in this world can be hard, and we all need some help making sense of it from time to time. As a therapist, I hold a space full of humility, humor, and deep, genuine care as you explore your relationship with yourself and with those around you. Using a trauma-informed lens, I will walk beside you as you uncover insight, develop deeper understanding, and build trust in the knowledge and resources that you have had all along. I have a passion for helping clients explore ways that we are all impacted by systems of oppression and am LGBTQ+, nonmonogamy, and kink-affirming. I specialize in working with couples and families, parents, trauma, addiction, gender identity, body image, and sex therapy. Pulling from an eclectic mix of theories, including Feminist Therapy, Internal Family Systems, Brainspotting, and other systemic/relational approaches, we will work together to find the mix that best supports your personal growth and healing. My approach to therapy is, above all else, experiential, which means I will prioritize being authentic and fully present with you as our conversations unfold.

Experience & Education

Though it may surprise some, I took a wandering path to this profession. I hold undergraduate degrees in Marketing and Environmental Policy with a Forestry minor from the University of Minnesota-Twin Cities (cue the nature metaphors). This led me to a career working as a project manager, building and running programs at environmental nonprofits for eight years. For many reasons, I reached an inflection point in my life, experienced therapy for the first time, and decided to make a change in my career. I received a Masters of Science degree from the University of Wisconsin-Stout in Marriage and Family Therapy with a Graduate Certificate in Sex Therapy. I have additional training in Brainspotting (Phase 1) and Narrative Exposure Therapy. I am licensed as a Marriage and Family Therapist in Minnesota (License #4186).

About Me

I am a wildly curious human with interests ranging from gardening to fishing and home renovation to science-fiction. As a white, cisgender, heterosexual man, I am aware that I grew up at many intersections of privilege. I seek to understand and dismantle many of the harmful rules and expectations that I was taught, while continuing to grow into a whole, feeling, compassionate man. I am a partner, as well as a father to a young human and a mischievous dog named Bubbles who may occasionally wiggle her way into our telehealth sessions.
