My Approach: Healing the Body, Nourishing the Mind

Our relationship with food is the most consistent and intimate connection we have in our lifetime. Like many important relationships, how we connect and interact with food can become confusing, overwhelming and complicated. Do you find yourself lost among mixed messages of how to care for your health? Are you struggling with your health and want to find a sustainable way to use food as a healing tool? Maybe you’ve noticed an increased fixation on food or your body that is draining and distracting from what’s important to you. Or you feel so out of control around food that you’re desperate for help.

Peace with food and your body is possible for you.

You deserve support on your path to food freedom. I specialize in helping people overcome food and body challenges with a nourishing and sustainable approach that offers hope and healing in a culture which leaves many burnt out and confused among mixed messages of how to care for their health. It is through my personal experience navigating illness within the medical industrial complex that my passion for personalized nutrition solutions emerged. You have a one-of-a-kind story that deserves to be met with compassion. It is my goal to work alongside you as partners-in-health, with my expertise in nutrition and your expertise in your lived experience, we can journey together towards food freedom and harmony in mind, body and spirit.

Experience and Education:

I have a Bachelors of Science in Nutrition and Clinical Dietetics from the University of Minnesota. Post-graduation, I completed a 1200-hour Dietetic Internship through University of Minnesota, specializing in eating disorder treatment and recovery. I am also a registered yoga teacher (RYT) and level one reiki practitioner, having completed over 500 hours of advanced study with an eclectic mix of more than 25 teachers both locally and internationally recognized. I merged my passion for nutrition and yoga by studying Ayurveda, Tibetan Medicine and Yoga in Dharamshala, India, through the University of Minnesota’s extensions program. My experience allows me to be uniquely qualified to integrate medical nutrition therapy for healing the body while simultaneously supporting those struggling with their relationship to food, exercise, and/or body. I take a trauma sensitive approach, weaving Intuitive Eating and mindfulness into our sessions, when appropriate. At Wholehearted Healing, I also offer group sessions which explore these areas deeper in a supportive community.

Just for Fun:

When I am not working with clients, I am trying out a new recipe or restaurant, spending time dancing with friends at concerts, hiking in National Parks, or cuddling on the couch with my Yorkie-Poo, Java Bean.

Free Discovery Call (15 min): Our work together is collaborative. A discovery call offers us a chance to connect and determine whether or not we would be a good fit. Absolutely zero pressure to commit!

Initial Nutrition Assessment (60 min): Our first session is about establishing rapport and laying the groundwork for a nutrition-therapeutic relationship.. It is an opportunity to go a bit deeper and for you to express your goals/desires for our work together. We will discuss your learning/communication styles and the ways in which you like to consume/apply information moving forward.

Follow-up Session (45 min): In my view, assessment continues beyond the initial session. We will continually assess and make adjustments to treatment as needed and based on mutual reflections about how things are going. Follow up sessions give us a chance to check in and reflect on challenges and successes and to celebrate wins. We will hold space for what is and is not working, or what may simply need tweaking. These sessions are all about refining treatment goals and setting intentions for our future work together. Follow up sessions usually occur ongoing on a weekly, bi-weekly, or monthly basis or as needed.
