Meriam Njah, MS, LMFT
(She/Her/Hers)
Individual and Relational Therapist
I am currently accepting new clients with the option of utilizing telehealth.
My Approach:
Life can sometimes be messy—and you don't have to navigate it alone. You might be feeling stuck and overwhelmed. Or in a season of life where things feel heavy. Maybe you're uncertain about how to make sense of the past, and find a better way forward. Perhaps you're not sure if you should continue with your relationship or not. I can help you find clarity, understand where you're stuck, and guide you to finding a healthier version of you. I specialize in working with couples, and individuals with concerns related to complex trauma, relational issues, anxiety, and difficult life transitions/adjustments. My work is influenced by a variety of trauma-informed theories, such Internal Family Systems (IFS), Sensorimotor Psychotherapy, Somatic Experiencing, as well as Systemic/Relational/Integrative approaches.
I have a warm, gentle demeanor, and genuinely care about my clients. My approach to therapy is a person-centered one, where I hold a non-judgmental, collaborative, culturally sensitive, kind, and humorous space for healing and growth.
I tailor the work so that it feels just right to you, in both approach and pace, so that you gain the understanding and insight needed to make the changes you want to make in your life.
Experience and Education:
Growing up, I spent a lot of my time trying to understand people and relationships: the small things that make them work, and the things that don’t. I was mostly trying to figure it out for myself, and in the process found my calling helping others do the same in therapy. I have been practicing as a therapist for 7 years. I received my undergraduate degree in Human Communication and Child Psychology (double major) from the University of Minnesota, and my Master's degree in Marriage and Family Therapy from the University of Wisconsin-Stout. I have additional training in Narrative Exposure Therapy (NET) and the Gottman Method of couples therapy (Level 2). I am also inspired, and currently training with Ellyn Bader, and Pete Pearson of the Couples Institute, and bring their philosophy into my work. I am licensed in the State of Minnesota (License #4076).
About me:
Outside of work, I enjoy spending time with my family, baking lots of sweets, going on walks, writing, reading books, and watching movies. I also love to think deeply about things. I am committed to using a lens of cultural humility, and welcome the opportunity to explore the complexities of race, gender, privilege, and power as they come up in our work together.
Finding the right therapist is so important. I am happy to set up a free 30-minute consultation to see if I feel like a good fit for you. I work part-time, and am available T-Th during the day. You can email me at info.meriamnjah@gmail.com. I look forward to connecting with you.
